S'mores Pop-Tart Review

The one thing I am enjoying about not being a strictly GF diet is, of course, the junk food. I try to limit myself to having it only during the weekends so at least most of what I eat is healthy.

As most teenagers, I was excited for Pop Tarts. This is the second one I've tried, and it was actually pretty good.
The first thing I noticed was that the crust is darker which is caused by the graham cracker, it didn't have that pie-crust taste. The Pop-Tart also has brown icing on the top. When you break it in half you can see the chocolate and marshmallow filling in alternated strips.

My favorite part is the center. I didn't bother eating the outside crust. The marshmallow is really good. The chocolate doesn't taste exactly like chocolate, it tastes like something 'chocolate flavored' instead of real actual chocolate. Which I'm not sure just how much I like about that part.

These Pop-Tarts would probably be really good heated up in the microwave or a toaster!

All in all, I'd say 3.5 stars out of 5. If the chocolate tasted a little more like real chocolate it would be so much better, and I didn't really care for the crust plain. I do however like that the crust on these ones seem a little thicker compared to the others. Maybe that's just me? However, if you're in a pinch and can't bother with buying graham crackers, marshmallows, and a chocolate bar, this would do the trick!

Ritter Sport Dark Chocolate with Whole Hazelnuts | Review

My Mom was telling me that when her and my Dad were living in Germany that they would get Ritter Sports, the Peppermint was my Dad's favorite.
Unfortunately, when you live in the states it's hard to buy chocolate/things from over seas that it doesn't cost a kajillion dollars. I don't live near one of those fancy stores either that carries all those fancy over-seas things, either.

Although, my Wal*Mart does carry the Dark Chocolate with Whole Hazelnuts. This one, and I believe it's the milk chocolate version, are the only two kinds that I've seen around where I live. I know the brand carries a ton of different flavors though.

To begin with. Ritter Sport is a German chocolate. The brand stands for using high-quality raw ingredients and processing methods.
Which I love, like I've said before. I don't care for the whole HFCS thing.

Starting off with the ingredients, their isn't many: Sugar, Chocolate Liquor, Hazelnuts, Cocoa Butter, Butterfat, Soy Lecithin, Food Grade Shellac Wax, Natural Flavor.

Starting off, the chocolate is bitter, but there is a slight sweetness to it. I don't think of hazelnuts when I eat it though. I think it tastes a lot like peanut M&M's, which I don't really care for. However, if peanut M&M's are your thing, this would probably make a great somewhat-healthier alternative. Unfortunately I can't get my mind unstuck from that idea, making it a not-so-favorite chocolate bar. Even though it's dark chocolate, I don't think it's the best of quality-meaning that if you were someone who only eats dark chocolate for the health benefits, this probably shouldn't be the first bar to pick. It gets soft easily at body temperature meaning that there is more cocoa butter in it than the actual bean itself that contains all of the health benefits.

I do like that the chocolate squares are in small pieces (something I should have gotten a picture of),  it makes it feel okay to eat a few at once and not feel like you're over indulging or makes you feel guilty for only having three pieces. I also like the logo printed on them. I'm not sure why, I like the Cadbury logo that's molded onto their bars as well.

Although I probably won't be getting this for myself again anytime soon, I would recommend it to someone else, I think the quality of the chocolate is pretty decent. It would be a great stocking stuffer, or just as a little gift. They aren't expensive, their around the $2.50 mark so you aren't spending an exorbitant amount of money either on a single bar.

All in all, I give the bar 3.5 stars out of 5. I would give it more if I didn't think that it tasted like peanut M&M's. Also, the quality of the dark chocolate doesn't meet to my own personal standards. Again, I do think it is a good bar, and would recommend it to a friend to try.

What I've Been Up To Lately | II

I've been enjoying grocery shopping for myself rather than having it on my parents shopping list. maybe it's the whole independent feeling, but I like it. I like picking out my own things and looking around for new stuff rather than putting the same thing on the list every week. My Dad isn't one for really looking to find new things, so.
I had a coupon for the Lactaid ice cream, and the Horzion Organic crackers so I thought I'd give them a try. Ice cream almost always gives me a stomach ache (I've found I can handle B&J in small doses though) and I've been tempted to get the lactose free kind, but I always hesitate on it. Lactose free stuff tends to freak me out a little, it's a mental thing. I don't even know why cause I don't even drink regular milk.Just yogurt and cheese.
This ice cream thing needs to stop. I've been having too much fun trying different flavors.

My Aunt invited me to go with her to the movies last week and we saw Max, a movie about a dog in the Marines. It was an outstanding movie, so so so good! I was in tears many many times. You can see my post about it here.

After the movie my Aunt treated me to lunch, which was so incredibly nice of her. We went to Chick-fil-a, both of our favorite place to eat. I got a Grilled Chicken Market Salad, and finally tried the Frosted Lemonade. Both were really good. I think the Frosted Lemonade tasted like a lemon meringue pie or a lemon version of a key-lime pie.

On Friday Misty got her belly shaved. Misty has a ton of hair. She's either always cleaning herself (we're certain she has OCD)-therefore eating her hair and leaving gifts for us, or shedding it EVERYWHERE. Because her hair is so fine and has so much of it my Mom likes her having her belly shaved to keep her a little bit cooled off, and I've finally figured out a technique to shave her on my own so I don't have to worry about getting someone else to help.

How is your summer going??

Max | Movie Review

My Aunt invited me to go to the movies with her yesterday, of course I said yes!
We saw Max. Oh. My. Gosh.
This movie was definitely a tear jerker, it wasn't even fifteen minutes into the movie and I was trying my hardest not to cry-my aunt was even tearing up and she's not the biggest fan of animals. So, it probably wouldn't hurt to have a little thing of tissues with you, especially if you're an animal lover.
As far as I know this isn't based on a true story, however it is dedicated to those who've served in the army/the army dogs. It's about a dog, Max, whose owner, Kyle, died in the Marine's and it got PTSD and was going to be put down because no one could get close to Max to be able to work with or handle him. It turns out the only person who could get close to the dog is Kyle's brother Justin.
It was nice seeing a good movie that didn't have any swearing or rated R worthy. I'd say it's a kid friendly movie.

There's not more I can say other than the fact it was so good. Seriously. Robbie Amell, Marines, Dogs? What more could you possibly want?

Nerd Fact; the guy who plays Kyle, Robbie Amell, is also cousins(?) with Stephen Amell, who plays in CW's show Arrow(in which I'm obsessed with). That has definitely peaked my liking of the movie. I've seen a few other movies/shows that Robbie Amell plays in but I hadn't put two-and-two together.
